Choose an indoor, outdoor or mixed route, each with eight destination stops and a final basket clue. Shorten a custom route to four to seven stops with an adjustable passport target and ending. The full library has 24 indoor and 16 outdoor rhyming clues. Every rhyme points to where the NEXT clue is hidden. A matching picture-hint edition shows a literal drawing and name of that same destination for pre-readers. These are two editions of the same 40 clues, not 80 different clues. The three routes reuse selections from the library.
The host gets exact next-card and egg-stamp placement tables, safe tucks for all 40 destinations, a blank route planner and four handwritten custom cards per sheet: two words-only, two with drawing space. Each cut card says INDOORS or OUTDOORS and has a landmark field. If several objects qualify, the host writes a room or corner and marks the chosen object with a paper leaf. The final clue leads to one FINISH mat and covered basket.
One walking crew uses up to three colour teams, labelled Red Circle, Blue Square and Gold Triangle so greyscale works too. Youngest finders lead first within each team. Rotate reading, guiding, finding and stamping. Optional eggs stay with the grown-up and are allocated to equal per-child targets using the 12-child count tracker. This is a cooperative hunt with turns, rather than a race across separate routes.
Lead with ages 3 to 7: picture hints with adult reading for pre-readers, or rhymes for readers. Ages 8 to 10 can use a full eight-stop puzzle route indoors, outdoors or mixed. Sixteen replacement cards combine sorting, word extraction, letter removal, ordering, alphabet shifts, number decoding, sums, two-part riddles and parcel-order deductions. The route endings include linked ordering and decoding challenges. Every puzzle has a nudge, worked solution and answer. They are family word puzzles, with challenge varying by reading experience.
Each of four PDFs contains 40 pages: cover; host guide; print menu; fair-share tracker; three ready-route planners; blank route planner; passport; ten rhyming-card sheets; ten matching picture-hint sheets; custom cards; four puzzle-card sheets; two destination indexes; two host hint sheets; final clue with FINISH mat and ending; certificate. Letter and A4, colour and greyscale, contain the same kit.
Core printing is four sheets plus one certificate per child: five sheets for one child or sixteen for twelve. Print two sheets for your chosen route and edition, one passport, one finale sheet and the certificates. Puzzle cards replace the two rhyme sheets, keeping the same print count. The optional egg tracker adds one sheet. Host references can stay on screen. Supply paper, printer, pencil, grown-up scissors, removable tape, a basket, an opaque cover and the listed hiding spots. Printed egg stamps are included; plastic eggs and treats are optional. Blank cards are handwritten; PDFs have no editable fields.
Plan an estimated 15 to 25 minutes for setup and 20 to 35 minutes for play and sharing; allow 30 to 45 minutes for a puzzle route. Times are estimates, not measured session results. Rhymes and puzzles may be remembered on repeat play; the library and custom cards let you change the route. This spring garden courier hunt centres on collecting egg stamps and sharing one basket. No purchased prize is needed: use paper eggs, drawings or an invitation to a shared story or game.

A grown-up cuts, hides and supervises every stop. Walk together; use only approved, low, dry spots on stable surfaces and private level garden ground. No ovens, stair edges, toilets, roads, bins, chemicals, medicines, water features, climbing or moving heavy objects. Keep cards away from heat, glass, cords, sharp tools and door swings. Leave soil and plants alone. A grown-up checks each exact spot and replaces unsuitable ones. Treats optional: ask a grown-up.
