Want ready-to-play puzzles too? The optional Ribbon Room crew mission has six linked tasks: a seal-count tray, spool-order puzzle, parcel balances, runner route, four-person giver logic case and delivery decoder with decoy letters. Recover four role digits, restore the deliveries, then combine both to release a thank-you ribbon and select a specific finale action. The host checks all four delivery rows before revealing the finale. Join four crew links to discover their closing message and build a paper loop. Allow 20 to 35 extra minutes. Full mission ages 9 and up; Mica and Nori suit younger helpers, Tess and Bram suit older readers. Finished players check another role. Teams of 1 to 4 share four useful roles.

Choose one of two separate real-gift modes. The secret santa game uses true personal clues. The white elephant game uses six dice or card prompts for exactly one shared-pool turn per player. Every steal is a direct exchange, nobody loses their gift, and anyone affected may cancel the move by saying keep. There are no extra turns or last-player steals.

Practical secrecy: prepare clues in advance or at separate writing spots. Helpers collect cards face down. The host can copy all cards to disguise handwriting, and tapes scrap-paper covers over hints 2 and 3 before delivery. The host sees the full assignment roster and does not compete for deduction points.

The name-slip draw rejects the whole deal if anyone draws themselves, then remixes all slips. The host checks every row before assignments go out. It does not enforce household or repeat-year exclusions. Arrange named draws before buying gifts.

You receive 19 pages in each of four PDFs: colour and greyscale in Letter and A4. Pages 1 to 5 introduce the game, print selector, draw, host script and clue workshop; 6 to 12 supply clue cards, a scorecard, pool rules, six illustrated swap prompts, 20 slips, eight tags and a private roster. Pages 13 and 14 hold the logic and decoder, 15 the key, 16 the host-held finale with four cut-and-join ribbon links, 17 the three example ladders, 18 the four crew role puzzles, and 19 their graded help and answers.

Standard secret-giver printing is 9 sheets for 4 players or 19 for 20, before optional scorecards and examples. Shared-pool mode needs 5 sheets. The full crew mission adds 3 player sheets per team: pages 13, 14 and 18. Keep p16 with the host until every delivery row is checked. Use the shared p16 links for one crew circle, or print 1 extra p16 per additional team wanting its own loop. Read host keys on screen, or add pages 15 and 19 once. You supply a bowl, pencils, scissors, scrap paper for covers and a ribbon token, tape, paper packets or envelopes and real gifts. A six-sided die is optional.

Unmeasured planning estimates: secret-giver mode takes 20 to 30 minutes for 4 to 8 players or 30 to 50 for 9 to 20. Shared-pool mode takes 15 to 25 minutes for 4 to 8 or 25 to 45 for 9 to 20. These include writing if needed, guessing or one swap round, a brief reveal/opening and the finale. Long gift openings, reading help and breaks can extend play. Buying gifts and the advance draw are separate.

Real giver riddles depend on knowing one another and allow reasonable alternative guesses. Younger children can dictate or draw. The six fictional puzzles are generated and checked by software, including exhaustive unique-solution checks for the logic, spool order and balances. They form one fixed mission with limited surprise on replay. Reuse the exchange forms and swap prompts with fresh family clues.
