Eight linked envelopes use eight different mechanics: mirror symmetry, card-pairing logic, an over-under paper weave, balance scales, a route with one-way streets, a ribbon instruction machine, a word ladder and the final sorting desk. The finale combines four earlier discoveries rather than simply copying letters from a list.
Best for ages 8 to 10; younger players need a grown-up helper. For ages 6 to 12, with a grown-up host and reading help. Junior prompts give a supported start on the same eight puzzles; confident readers can cover those prompts and use the Expert checks. These are support modes for one fixed mission, not separate puzzle sets. Younger children need sustained adult help with reading, vocabulary and linked deductions.
For 2 to 8 players. Four rotating jobs keep a shared team moving; row tasks and clue halves let pairs contribute at the same time. An extra working set is helpful for 5 to 8 players. A correct answer releases the next envelope. No real locks, hidden household clues, mirrors or player devices are required.
Estimated play is 45 to 70 minutes including briefing and delivery; experienced solvers may finish sooner. Timing has not been measured in family sessions. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for setup. A nudge, worked step and rescue answer support every puzzle, with worked solution pictures and a short story recovery after each answer.
Each PDF has 21 pages: eight puzzle sheets, a delivery board, two host setup and mode pages, two hint pages, four solution pages, envelope labels, a cover, a team certificate and four festival notes on one sheet. Four PDFs are supplied: Letter and A4, each in colour and greyscale.
For one team, print 11 sheets: pages 5 to 13, 20 and 21, one copy each. Optional label page 4 makes 12 sheets. Read the eight host reference pages on screen, or print them for 20 sheets including labels. The entire PDF once is 21 sheets. An extra working set of pages 6 to 13 adds eight sheets. Extra certificates or note sheets add one sheet each per child.
Supply pencils, erasers, scrap paper and eight envelopes at least 6 x 9 inches, or use folded numbered sheets. A grown-up handles optional cutting. After opening the mailbox, deliver four included team notes to every festival crew together. No personal card exchange or treats are needed. The same puzzle answers repeat on replay.
